Since Derbyshire countryside is at the very heart of our business, it's important that we do as much as we can, as a business, to help the planet. We think about the environment and the impact our actions have on the world around us at every step.

  • The most important thing we do comes from you. Every candle you buy from us gives back to maintaining the beauty of the Peak District, because £1 from each candle sale is donated to the Peak District National Park. The Peak District National Park Authority conserves and enhances the natural beauty, wildlife and cultural heritage of the Peak District, and promotes opportunities for the understanding and enjoyment of the Peak District's special qualities. You can find out more on our web page, or on the Peak District website.

  • We use Natural Waxes in our candles. These are better than the widely used Paraffin wax candles because Natural waxes come from renewable resources, for example Soy wax comes from soy beans- a natural, renewable resource grown by farmers in many regions. On the other hand, Paraffin candles are made from petroleum, coal or oil shale- a nonrenewable resource consisting of a mixture of hydrocarbon atoms. Paraffin candles can release toxins into the air when burnt which is why they are becoming increasingly unpopular. Natural wax candles, however, support agriculture, burn cleaner and longer and will not release toxins into the air when burnt, since they are non-toxic. We have more information on the benefits of Soy and Natural waxes here.

  • Our candles really are from the Peak District. Our candles are made locally, in Tissington and Ilam, with both workshops completely surrounded by classic Derbyshire views. The great thing about producing our candles locally is that we're supporting local, rural business and reducing any transportation required substantially. In the workshops, our candles are hand-poured by people employed from the local area, so local enterprise benefits the whole local economy, and less electricity is needed to supply machinery- we just have to heat the wax and pour!

  • Our glass jars are recyclable. When you have finished your candle, pop the jar into glass recycling so that it can be remade into something else.
